I’ve been MIA lately and with the television season coming back in full swing and some great movies on the way I’ll do more. I promise. There are reviews I definitely want to do but haven’t had the chance to do. Very busy with wedding and life.
Before I get started, if you want good shows to check out see Dirt, The Riches, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
I’m coming back soon, I promise.

Here is the deal just because there is nothing on tv there is really no reason to watch stuff that isn’t worth it. I thought I would give Cashmere Mafiaa try because I was
missing good quality shows.
The Good: I like the actors and the idea is fun. Some good one-liners.
The Bad: I just don’t really care about the characters and in fact they kind of annoy me. It’s all been done before.
The Conclusion: It’s not the next Sex and the City and it’s kind of annoying. I’ve watched a few episodes and have been pretty bored.

We noticed The Deer Hunter was available On Demand and Erik said it was one he always meant to see. Apparently it was a big deal when it came out and won a bunch of Oscars. I thought, well this is probably one of those movies I should see.
The Good: The acting was pretty good especially from Robert DiNiro and Christopher Walker (btw so weird how young they were). It had a very intense message and made me really think about our current war in comparison with Nam.
The Bad: It wasn’t all I expected it to be but I think I’m incredibly jaded as far as movies. It’s hard to shock me or make me squirm anymore. Most of the time a movie from 30 years ago just doesn’t make the same impact as a movie from today. They also spent way too much time with the wedding stuff. Ok, you are dancing and being merry, I get it.
The Conclusion: Maybe I just didn’t get it but it just wasn’t quite disturbing enough.

I’ve always wanted to move to New York and be a New Yorker. While I know my fascination with Carrie Bradshaw had a lot to do with this I know my love for this city started a long time before. I think I first adored New York as a young kid when visiting my grandparent’s apartment in Manhattan.
When I hear about New York Real Estate I immediately imagine what it would be like to live in such a state that is truly unlike anywhere else. It certainly can’t hurt to check out North Fork real estate properties as Prudential Douglas Elliman is the largest Real Estate Company in New York.

Sometimes you see a movie that you love but that kind of bugs you a little bit. Although the fact Waitress bugged me is not necessarily a bad thing since it was an emotion and that’s what a movie should do, bring out a real emotion.
The Basics: The story follows Jenna (Keri Russell) as a waitress at a small
shop where she also makes her very own unique pies. She’s not too pleased when she finds herself pregnant by her abusive husband whom she was planning to leave once she saved up enough money. Things get more complicated when she falls for her doctor.
The Good: The film is quirky and fun without being too cute, just a little bit of weird to even it out. You can’t help but love all the main characters except for, of course, her asshole of a husband. I loved how she made her own pies for different emotions like “falling in love pie” or “I hate my husband pie”. If I could make pies I think I would do that too.
The Bad: Not much bad about this movie, the writing is good, the acting is good and it all just came out really fresh and fun. My only annoyance, if this even counts, I just was so annoyed at all the bullshit Jenna put up with. I mean, every time her loser of a husband came to pick her up in the car and repeatedly honked I wanted to strangle him.

For our usual Chinese food and a movie on Christmas eve we ended up seeing No Country for Old Men by the Cohen brothers. I actually wanted to see the Will Smith movie but my brother had already seen it. I’m glad we saw No Country though, because it was really my kind of film.
The Good: The story is bold and the characters are chilling, in particular Javier Bardem’s character who is pretty much the bad guy. He’s not just the bad guy though he’s as evil as they come. Every time he came on screen my skin was crawling, I hope I never see that guy in person…ever. The film was suspenseful in a way I almost couldn’t stand to watch it at times but in a good way. I want a movie to take me for a ride, that’s the only way.
The Bad: There is nothing really “bad” about this movie. It was a little slow at times but it was apparent the flow was part of the tension. It was a blood bath but that really doesn’t bother me much and it certainly gets the point across. The ending annoyed me a little and not because it wasn’t a “Hollywood ending” as some people assume but because it just seemed to end so unemotionally. The pull you into the film and then just as it seems to be coming to a conclusion it spits you out. I’m still researching more about the ending and I think I’m understanding it more.
The Conclusion: This is one to see in the theater, the intensity needs a large screen and surround sound, unless you have that at home and then you need to invite me over more often. I think this movie should probably be seen more than once to appreciate it, like most of my favorite movies. The more I think about it the more I like it.

Sicko is tough to review because of all the layers and information. I can’t tell

you for sure how much of it is 100% but I can tell you how this information affected me. I know a lot of people question the validity of Michael Moore films but they certainly get a point across.
The point of this particular film is how corrupt American health care system is such as how expensive it is even though we pay so much money just to have the insurance and how difficult it is to get the health care you need.
Moore introduces us to an older couple who after several health crisis lost their home because of the debt they incurred from uninsured medical bills. We also meet several people who have illnesses from assisting during 9/11 and are left unable to afford their health care bills.
I do suggest you see this film but like with anything else take it with a grain of salt. After you watch it research all the details and learn as much as you can. I don’t know if everything is exactly as Moore tells us but it is obvious there is something drastically wrong with health care system and something needs to change.
