I descend obsessively into research spirals on a particular subject until I learn all that is possible to learn. After the novelty is gone, I start to lose interest and move on to another subject and repeat the process. Each interest can last as little as a week to months. Some interests, particularly if it involves logic, animals, plants, or crafting last a lifetime. Obviously, this is beneficial for nonfiction writing and making niche websites.
